Japan Tsunami Prayer

Yesterday morning, I awoke as usual to begin following my normal routine. I woke my daughter, let the dog out and made my cup of hot coffee-drink (normal coffee is too bitter for me). Then I sat down in my favorite chair to check my email, Facebook and blog statistics. It was a very typical, normal way for me to wake up.

Then my mom came rushing down the stairs. She made a bee-line for the television to turn it on. I did not know what was going on, but I knew it must be serious by the look on my mother's face.

"There was a tsunami in Japan," she announced as the TV flipped on. My eyes widened as I turned to look at her. Her eyes were glued to the television as she walked backwards to take a seat. As she sat in her chair, she gasped.

"Look at that!" she exclaimed. I heard the breath draw quickly into her lungs again as she saw video of the devastation. The gray-haired old woman jumped up out of her chair to run over to the TV, point and draw her finger back and forth across the picture. "See this? This is LIVE. That is the water! All this debris is the houses and cars!"

Within minutes, my daughter was also downstairs. She was dressed unusually early. Grabbing her brush, she sat with eyes glued to the television until it was time for her to go to school. Our TV stayed on and to the news all day yesterday.

All I want to say in my post this morning is that my heart goes out to the people of Japan, and all the peoples affected by this horrible natural disaster. May the Lord keep each one of you from further harm, ease your suffering, quicken your recovery and answer your prayers.

Amen.
