I have to tell you all something that made me laugh pretty hard yesterday.
I was at Old Country Buffet for lunch, as usual for Monday. As usual, I chatted with all the staff from time to time throughout my meal. (Oh, and yesterday, manager Tim brought around those yummy, buttery, warm breadsticks that I like so well. Mmm.... I think he did that just for me.)
I had my computer with me to write as I sometimes do and I sat out of the way in the section of two-person booths. A woman in another two-person booth also sat alone and opposite me. Near the end of this woman's meal (around the middle of mine), she addressed me from across our two tables.
"Excuse me. Do you know where Brennans is from here?"
I had a rough idea so I started to answer, using my hands in a broad movement to indicate direction and giving landmarks. I did not notice while I talked as another woman, sitting directly across from me and behind the first woman's booth, rose from her seat to fill another plate. She was about to pass me when the first woman spoke to ask a clarifying question.
The second woman stopped and smiled broadly. She touched my arm to grab my attention and remarked, "I'm glad she said something. I thought you were talking to yourself."
Ah, yes. Crazy me. I talk to everybody at lunch. . . including the voices in my head.
